You can use "heat" as a verb or as a noun when talking about something that is hot.

This is what it looks like as a verb:

  • Heat that soup in the microwave.
  • She heated the oven to 350 degrees. (or)
  • She preheated the oven to 350 degrees.
  • The day is heating up fast.

Here it is as a noun:

  • I love the heat in the summer.
  • She can't stand the heat, so she runs her air conditioning all the time in the summer.
  • You can feel the heat coming from this fire.
