May 20, 2011 - Word of the Day: cope
The verb "cope" is similar to "manage" or "deal with" We use it describe how a person takes care of a situation, usually a difficult situation.
For example:

She's not coping very well with the death of her mother.

How do you cope with three jobs?

How long has he had to cope with his disease?

I can't cope with this!
-
People who cope with their problems through alcohol or drugs are just creating more problems for themselves.
