Fall is in the air. The nights are getting longer, the days are getting shorter, and it’s getting much cooler. The warm days of summer are over. Now we can enjoy the beauty of fall as the leaves change their colors. During the fall, the leaves on the trees turn from green to gold, yellow, orange, brown or red. These are fall colors. Some trees, such as spruce and pine trees, remain green throughout the year. To see so many different colors on all of the trees at one time is what makes the fall such a beautiful time of year. As it gets closer to winter, the leaves fall off of the trees until finally the trees are bare. Are they dead? No, they’re still very much alive. The trees are just going to sleep for the winter. The leaves will return in the spring as the weather gets warmer and the days get longer. ^ ^ ^ ^ ^ ^ ^ ^ ^ ^ ^ ^ ^ ^ ^ ^ ^ ^ ^ ^ ^ ^ Now you try it. Read the paragraph above.
