The opposite of narrow is wide. Look at the two shapes below:

The shape on the left is narrow. The shape on the right is wide.

The branches of this tree cover a wide area.
This waterfall is very wide.
A wide broom makes cleaning up easier.
This truck makes wide turns.
People can travel far and wide thanks to modern aircraft.

This word become a verb with an "en" ending:

• The state widened the highway.
• The highway was widened to allow more traffic through the city. (This sentence is in the passive voice.)
• The political party widened its appeal in order to attract more support from voters.
• We need to widen our garden next year so that we can grow more tomatoes.
