pray A person who prays shows devotion to God. People also pray to ask forgiveness, to find relief from a problem, or to just say thanks for all of the good things that a person has in life.
A prayer is a thing that a person says or thinks. The word "prayer" is a noun.
Christian prayers use words that are very old. The Our Father, also called The Lord’s Prayer, is an example of that. This prayer is said during church services, but some people say it daily when they are at home, or whenever they need the comfort of a prayer. The Our Father or The Lord’s Prayer Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed by Thy name. Thy kingdom come; Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. (Amen.) art = are deliver = save hallowed = holy or sacred thy = your trespass = to cause a problem Click here to go to the Word of the Day page. December 18, 2015
