A cup is a thing from which people can drink. Cups are used for specific purposes:

  • He’s drinking from a cup. The cup has a lid.

  • I drink two cups of coffee every morning.
  • Coffee can be purchased from a coffee shop. Many customers order coffee to go.
  • Tea is served in a tea cup or just a regular cup. Would you like a cup of tea?

  • You can order soup in a cup if you don’t want a large bowl of soup.
  • When it’s cold outside, a cup of hot chocolate warms you up.
  • Cups are used at games and parties because they are disposable and easy to clean up.
  • A measuring cup is used when cooking. A cup is equivalent to eight ounces.
  • Some trophies come in the form of a cup. The winner of a competition brings home the cup.
  • Cup cakes are small cakes. They are about the size of a cup.
