|35. You have to wear your seatbelt.|
Make sure you buckle up.
You have to wear your seatbelt. Drivers and passengers in a car have to put on a seatbelt before a car moves into traffic. People who don’t wear seatbelts put themselves at risk. In many places, not wearing a seatbelt is against the law.
Why is it so important to wear a seatbelt? Car accidents are a leading cause of death in the United States. Every year thousands of people die in auto-related accidents; millions of people are injured.
When a car is involved in a crash, drivers and passengers suffer from the sudden impact. A seatbelt restraint decreases the chances that you will hit your head against a windshield. A seatbelt also keeps passengers inside the car in case it rolls over in an accident.
It takes less than ten seconds to fasten a seatbelt. If you make it a regular habit, you will learn to feel very comfortable with a seatbelt strapped against your body. So buckle up!
