roll

When used as a verb, the word "roll" refers to a type of motion made possible by wheels or balls:

A soccer ball rolls when it’s kicked.
Tires on a car roll to move it forward.
Paint rolls easily on a roller.
Dice are rolled when playing games.
A rolling pin rolls out dough.

When used as a noun, the word "roll" is used for objects in a circular form:

Paper towels and toilet paper are on a roll.
Rolls are served for dinner or breakfast.
Egg rolls are popular at Chinese and Vietnamese restaurants.
You can load a roll of film into a camera. (If it isn’t digital)
You can play rock’n’roll with an electric guitar and an amplifier.
A person who has had a lot of good luck and success is said to be "on a roll."	He’s on a roll.
