It’s the last day of the month. At this time, students who study on this website usually take tests to decide if they are ready to move to the next level. You can find the tests for this website on this page.

The word of the day is "option."

consumer

As a consumer, you have many options.

The word of the day is "tune."

I’m learning how to use Quizlet for creating quizzes. You can click here to practice vocabulary related to activities that you do in the morning.

wake up

He’s waking up.

The word of the day is "discover."

in the library

This new video is for the verb phrase "go off."

The word of the day is "cover." Thanks to Srinivas for the suggestion!

bandagesHis head is covered with bandages.

The word of the day is "probably."

rain

It’s probably going to rain all day today.

This is the time of year when we get a lot of rain here in Minnesota. It’s hard to avoid getting wet.

wet woman She got soaked!

The word of the day is "soggy."

The word of the day is "lesson."

This new video explains how you can use the phrase "on the other hand" when contrasting ideas:

Here’s another new video. It explains how to use "going on" which is different in some cases from "go on."

We’re already half way through May. How are your lessons going? One way to determine the level you should be working on is by trying the review for each level. You can find links for the reviews in each of the first five levels.

The word of the day is "glue." Glue holds things together. This word can be used literally and figuratively.

There’s a new video for the verb phrase "go on" on this page.

The word of the day is "float."

When something floats, it remains aloft in the air or it stays on the top of a liquid like water.

floating on a raft

This video explains how the word "having" is used with past participles to talk about past activity. I made it because it’s such an unusual way to form a sentence, yet I do it and many other people do it without thinking about unusual it is.

Many of my students are working in the Purple Level this week. Today’s featured lesson from that level is the verb "take." This verb is often used in verb phrases.

The word of the day is "dear."

This video provides examples for "all about."

The word of the day is "cut."

I’m working on a new video for "having" + the past participle. This is a weird way to put together phrases and clauses, but it might be useful for you to learn about, especially for advanced level students. The video should be ready by today or tomorrow.

Have you started a new level yet? At the beginning of the month, I encourage students to move forward to the next level if they feel they are ready. We’re you working in the Red Level? Then move forward to the Yellow Level? We’re you working in the Green Level? Then move forward to the Purple Level, but only if you feel like you are ready.

Each course level on this website has a checklist. Print out and keep the checklist next to your computer, tablet, or phone and use it to track your progress as you move through the lessons:
