A note can be a few different things….

It can be something that you measure in music:

  • This beat has two notes.
  • This song has a lot of sixteenth notes.

It can be something that you write:

  • She took notes during the meeting.
  • Do you take notes while studying on this website?

It can be something that you observe:

  • She’s taking note of the storm above her head.
  • Note the increase of precipitation in this area.

It can be a form or written communication that is sent or received.

  • He received a note from his boss.
  • The students were caught sending notes to each other during class.

A note is also something that you receive as a payment or spend when shopping:

  • "This note is legal tender for all debts, public and private."
