If there is a variety of something, there are many different choices or many different kinds of things.

  • There is a variety of students in my classroom.
  • There are many different varieties of people in the world.
  • How much variety do you have in your diet?
  • How many varieties of animals are there in the world?
  • We have at our fingertips a variety of electronic devices for getting information.
  • My friend, Olson, loves his job because he has a variety of interesting tasks to complete during the day.
  • There was an interesting variety of people at the party we attended last night.
  • Variety is the spice of life. (This is a common expression in English. It means that having a variety of something makes life more interesting–and that’s a good thing!)
