The daughter of your brother or your sister is your niece.

  • Tom’s sister had a baby girl. He is an uncle to the baby. The baby is his niece.
  • Sheila needs to buy a birthday present for her niece. Her niece is turning four. Sheila is her aunt.
  • Do you have any nieces or nephews? (A nephew is the son of your brother or sister.)
  • I have several nieces and nephews.
  • One of my nieces is getting married.
