loop   A thing that makes a full circle makes a loop, but a loop doesn’t have to take the shape of a perfect circle. A loop may be circular or oval. Some parts of a roller coaster take the shape of a loop. A cowboy’s lasso forms a loop in order to snare horses and other animals. A person’s fingerprints are composed of loops and whirls. A necklace loops around the wearer’s neck. (In this sentence, loop is a verb.) Trains in downtown areas of large cites often go around in a loop. Downtown Chicago is encircled by elevated trains.
