People who study grammar learn the rules and recommendations for speaking and writing. When people study grammar, they also study the way language is used by the people who speak it, which may differ from the rules of grammar.

The word "grammatically" is an adverb.

• Many people use the pronoun "they" to refer to a singular antecedent. This is grammatically incorrect.
• While some word choices are grammatically correct, they might sound strange, so people avoid their usage.
